Life, Death, Budgets, and Capital Murder

In 2005, the Texas Leg created Life Without Parole as the 'other option' in a Capital Murder case. Thought at the time as a way to divert those destined for the needle away to something more 'humane', Texas is finding out that their humanitarian efforts are more costly, and less humanitarian. There's just no pleasing some people.

Prosecutors began discussing this issue back in 2005 on their TDCAA forums website: http://tdcaa.infopop.net/4/OpenTopic?a=tpc&s=347098965&f=157098965&m=370105769

You'll notice I stole Shannon Edmonds line about pleasing people from his first post.

Returning to the Work

I'm returning to blogging this week as I've finally caught back up from taking most of September and October studying for the Board Certification exams. (results pending in December - I felt confident after the morning essays, but not as much after the multiple choice portion)

There's alot to talk about so these posts may come out as a quick series of multiple topics per day. We'll see how that ends up.
